Cooking time: Cassava Fritters

As I mentioned before, I love all crafty ideas as much as cooking and today I decided to upload this recipe and the How-to so you guys can enjoy it as much as I do.

I'm Dominican and we are very passionate about food. This dish is very simple, quick and delicious. We serve it as a side dish to accompany almost everything! In Spanish they´re known as "Arepitas de Yuca" or simply "Arepitas"

So here are the ingredients:

  • 2 lb of cassava (we call it "Yuca" in Spanish)
  • 2 Tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon of salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4 Tablespoons of Milk
  • 1 Teaspoon of smashed Garlic (Optional)
  • 1 Teaspoon of butter (at ambient temperature)
  • 1 Tablespoon of Aniseed (this is to one´s taste, you can put less or more depending how much you like the Aniseed flavor and smell)
  • 1 Cup of Oil for frying

Preparation. Estimated time for this recipe: 20 - 25 minutes

Peel and wash the Cassava. Then grate it using the least coarse side of the grater.
The hardest part is grating the Cassava. Once this is completed, the rest is very easy.

Grating the Cassava

Once it´s done, add the eggs and blend using a spoon.

Then add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Let the mix rest for about 5 mins.

Put the Oil in a hot pan and start adding the mix using a tablespoon. Use your hands to give the round shape.

Fry until golden brown.

Rest on paper towel to soak the oil excess.

Tah dah! They are simply delicious. I forgot to add pictures of all of the Cassava Fritters once we finish as my family assaulted the plate as soon as they realized what we were cooking, lol

Hope you liked the post and dare to try the Cassava Fritters. If you do or if you just simply want to comment, please feel free to do so!
